KickHour.com | 16 October 2026
KickHour.com today publishes its Top 10 football players in the world, ranked with an open 100-point formula instead of a vote. The ranking covers the 2025/26 club season and the 2026 World Cup, so readers can see how each score was built.
The KickHour Formula (100 points)

- Team Success (25): points for league, cup and European titles won.
- Individual Awards (20): points for Ballon d'Or, Golden Boot and Player of the Year honours.
- Consistency (15): elite seasons out of the last five.
- Market Value (10): current transfer valuation, scored against a ceiling of €220m.

Just Outside the Top 10
Jude Bellingham (33.2 points) and Lionel Messi (29.9 points) narrowly missed the cut. Messi's score reflects the MLS adjustment and fewer elite seasons in the last five years. The formula measures recent seasons only, so it does not judge his place in history.

- Erling Haaland, about €220m (Manchester City)
- Kylian Mbappé, about €200m (Real Madrid)

A Note on Method
Scores are KickHour's own estimates. Team-success points, award points and some market values involve editorial judgment, and players separated by only a few points, such as Yamal, Dembélé, Olise and Haaland, are close to level. KickHour will update the formula and rankings as new seasons are played.
